Peter Woo:
Peter Woo is a Partner and National Vice Chair of the Employment & Labor Group of Goldberg Segalla. Peter has handled thousands of employment cases in California and New York for employers and management in claims involving sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, equal pay, and wage and hour issues based on state and federal law. Peter also regularly provides legal counsel to companies on day-to-day employment issues to mitigate the risk of litigation. Peter’s clients include accountants, tax preparers and other finance professionals. Peter is an AV-preeminent rated attorney who is licensed to practice law in California, New York, Washington State, and the District of Columbia.

David Choi:
David Choi is a Partner in the Management and Professional Liability Group. He is a seasoned litigator who has represented accountants and tax preparers, and other professionals, from high value claims involving professional malpractice. In addition to resolving conflicts, David has substantial experience in conflict prevention. His clients regularly rely upon him to craft effective agreements with an eye toward minimizing and mitigating the risk of future disputes. David is an AV-preeminent rated attorney who obtained his Juris Doctor and Masters in Tax Law from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.

Erica Row:
Erica Row is an associate in the Employment & Labor Group and the Cal-OSHA Group of Goldberg Segalla. Erica regularly defends employers from harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour lawsuits under state and federal law. Erica also provides day-to-day counsel and advisory services to employers on issues ranging from hiring, termination, internal investigations, drug-testing, and reasonable accommodations. Erica obtained her Juris Doctor from the UC Irvine School of Law.

Synopsis:
This presentation will discuss points of liability exposure for accountants and best practice tips to minimize the risk of claims and litigation including engagement agreements, proper documentation, and professional liability insurance.
In term of labor and employment, we will discuss the legal and business risks associated with the #metoo movement and use of medical/recreational marijuana in the workplace based on the latest developments in these areas of law this year. The presentation will include a detailed discussion of specific legal issues and how they are treated in California, including an overview regarding an update on training requirements, industry focused issues, reasonable accommodations, and latest trends.
